From Nicole's Blog

"Last week’s in-class discussion of war reporting has got me thinking. What would happen if little ol’ me were called upon some day to cover war? I think my journal would go something like this:

Day 1: Sacred shitless.

Day 2: Same. Plus discovered there is no where to bake cookies at base camp. Will have to leave vanilla extract and other supplies behind.

Day 3: Forced to dig fox holes for protection. I decorated mine today, making a thatch rug out of leaves and twigs.

Day 4: Met some random locals today, but they didn’t seem to know the way to IKEA. Useless.

Day 5: So bored with all this sand and bombing. Have devised a way to slipcover the humvee. Purple.

Day 6: My mom called the Iraq embassy and managed to track me down. She says that this job is not safe and she and my dad will be picking me up tomorrow. On their way home from Reno.

Day 7: I decorated farewell flower pots for the troops today. Even though they keep saying things like “the freaky white girl brought glitter and glue guns to war?” I know that they will miss me."

hahahahahaha - how I love that girl!! Check here for more.

(Look Below!)

Refreshing to know that my blog is worth ~$500. I guess being a cheap assed stingy gujju does reflect in my net value..!! Honestly, I expected a coupla grand at least! Oh well, c'est la vie!

Anyway, dropped mom off to the airport yesterday after a week long bonding session with her and the older brother (aka tension inducer). Week was fun, didn't do anything much - mom got drunk (she loves new york cocktails) - did sushi, chinese, the usual gastronomic delights (Wimp's pecan pie from harlem, Veneiro's cheescake, sugar's guacamole), and pretty much bonded.

There's a 10 day break before my dad comes, in which time I have to finish my applications (includes mailing transcripts, finishing essay, and assigning recommenders), write a 10 page single spaced paper on Adenosine receptors and inflammation, present a paper tomorrow, finish my lab experiments (the tech comes back Monday) and get my OPT thing sorted out.

Do you think I could take a loan on time - 24hrs in a day just don't seem to be enough!

Still no plans/costume for halloween - I think I may just end up staying in and working...

*sigh*

My blog is worth $564.54.
How much is your blog worth?

Et Tu, Apu?

And so it's officially Apu (from the simpsons) who's jumped on the bandwagon. Courtesy Sepia Mutiny, I came across this gem.

In other news - not much happening in my life - mother is in town - am going crazy with the amount of work that I have, considering none of it is getting done!

Will keep you updated about halloween plans - still don't know what to go as...any suggestions?

A moment to breathe

And so I finally have a moment to breathe. Just got done with my corp finance mid term (taking the class as an elective) , and am now unshaven and ungelled, dressed in blue (my silly superstitions!).

Anyway, lots been going on - had a great birthday (love you guys who came) - was kinda like an Indian wedding - with sholay party and my birthday party on two consecutive days. I would write about my birthday, except I have no idea what happened. I was given 6 chocolate martinis, after which I don't remember anything (there was a cosmo, a couple of beers and a long island iced tea i think). Anyway, had a totally fabulous time, and enjoyed every minute of the weekend.

Of course, it had to get over and I was swamped with work - finance mid term, paper/presentation for my endocrinology class and correcting TA papers all in the span of a week - man, I almost died. And to top it off, my cells died!!

In anycase, have a moment to breathe right now, and so will post more pics of my birthday, nap, take the dog for a walk, go for a run and then set out to have a drink at a gay bar.
